Announcing Quilt’s Seed Round

Today, we’re excited to announce our seed round, led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from some of the absolute best founder/CEOs and executive operators at world-class companies like DataDog, HubSpot, DoorDash, Asana, Eventbrite, a16z, Snyk,, and CaptivateIQ.

Why Solutions?

Quilt uses AI and software to solve the biggest challenges for solutions executives, leaders, and professionals. “Solutions” has always been loosely defined. You may have heard of “sales engineers”, “presales engineers”, “solutions consultants”, “solutions architects”, “demo engineers”, “field CTOs”. They bring technical credibility to the selling motion and help the customer understand exactly what they are buying and why. Increasingly in the enterprise, buyers are experts who want to buy from other experts the exact solution that fits their needs – especially for mission-critical software. Solutions professionals fill that role. Whatever the title, two things are true: they are the unsung heroes of the B2B sales organization and yet they are consistently under-resourced and overlooked.

When we built our previous company, (now PeopleGlass by, it was used by nearly every persona in the sales organization: midmarket and commercial reps, SDRs/BDRs, CSMs, and SEs. Of these, the SE role was by far the most manual: data entry, CRM customization, and overall lack of tooling. Over the past 5 years, this has not changed.

Why Now?

Two things happened in 2022 that made what we are doing possible. First, the market correction caused an abrupt 180 from “grow at all costs” to “do more with less”. Solutions teams were given the Herculean task of expanding ratios at the same operating efficiency with no dedicated software to help. Second, the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022 led to an explosion of new products and services built off of publicly available pre-trained foundation models. The technology, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) + LLM chat completion, is exceptionally well-suited for the day-to-day work of all subject matter experts, including solutions professionals. And yet, while hundreds of products were being built for sales and customer success, very little was being built for solutions teams.

The Quilt Product

The most valuable time a solutions professional can spend is with customers. They provide much-needed technical, industry, and product expertise to customers that other sales professionals cannot. However, solutions teams spend up to 65% of their time on work unrelated to technical selling. This includes answering RFXs, responding to one-off questions from reps and customers, managing and configuring demo environments, and more. With Quilt, many of these tasks are completely automated, freeing up SEs to spend more time with customers.

We started Quilt to fill this gap with the goal of scaling solutions teams with AI. Our first Quilt Assistants, which are now generally available, solve some of the more routine yet important “jobs-to-be-done” for solutions organizations:

  • The Questionnaire Assistant automatically answers complex RFXs, security questionnaires, DDQs from an organization’s knowledge sources. 300-question questionnaires that used to take weeks now take minutes with our AI assistant.
  • The Knowledge Assistant manages #ask Slack channels and fields live questions from on-call reps 24/7, as well as provides you with on-demand answers at all times.
  • The Meeting Assistant fills you in on everything you need to know before each customer interaction so you don’t have to spend hours sifting through notes, calls, and bespoke research, as well as equips you with the right talk tracks, value propositions, and product insights to ensure optimal performance.
